I can’t say April was a soft launch. Is it just me, or does it collectively seem like this year will run away if we let it? I do have a tendency to chase time, but… I’m getting better at it. Day by day, work in progress. Our Entrepreneurship Academy Spring Cohorts kicked off and are in full effect. I fulfilled a four-week residency where I taught dance at the School for Creative Performing Arts, and I absolutely sprung into action through our MORTAR x Wellable health & wellness initiative. It hasn’t been easy, but it has been a testament to my tenacity and vigor to follow through.
My pursuits are many. My anxiety is manageable. My body is enduring. My heart is open. I am taking off this Spring. We have more daylight, and I thrive in the sun. Cue Sheryl Crow (if you know, you know). Nevertheless, the longer days often illuminate our ways. It’s an opportunity to fuse light into those dark crevices; things we’ve been avoiding, pushing beneath the surface. I like to run every now and then, but I’ve realized that I can’t outrun myself. The light doesn’t just energize, it exposes. And I’m realizing I have to face what it reveals.
I get pedicures so I can decide to just completely take my shoes off if need be.
“Run against the gun
Habits come undone
Hiding from your vices
Alive in the night
The light is terrifying
‘Cause everything bright
It don’t always shine
Love is blind
Need to redefine
We need brand new wine
A different vibe
We can get away
Dancing in the dark
We forever like the stars
Even if we don’t go far
Getaway, getaway, getaway
Getaway, getaway, getaway”
