Reading Time: 2 minutes

I recently celebrated one year at MORTAR. One year of showing up for an organization I genuinely love — one that is doing real, transformative work for entrepreneurs who deserve every resource we can find for them. It has been one of the most meaningful professional chapters of my life.

And yet, if I’m being honest, this season has been a lot.

I am a wife. A mother. A fundraiser. A colleague. A community member. Each of those roles carries weight, carries people, carries expectations — and right now, they are all pulling at once. The uncertainty feels constant. More people depending on me. More moving pieces than I can count. More moments of wondering if I’m giving enough to everything, or not enough to anything.

It’s not the work. It’s everything, all at once.

Our team has been reading Less Is Liberation by Christine Platt together — and it’s both inspiring and convicting at the same time. MORTAR teaches our entrepreneurs that rest is productive. That sustainability matters more than speed. That holistic wellness — the kind that accounts for your whole self — is not a luxury. It is the foundation.

I believe it. I’m just not there yet.

But then I think about my dad. An entrepreneur for over 40 years — and still not done. For decades he has shown up, built something, provided for so many people for so long. That kind of endurance doesn’t come from having it all figured out. It comes from refusing to quit even when the weight is real.

So I keep going too. Not because I have it all together, but because giving up was never really an option. Adopting a “less” mentality when life keeps adding more is easier said than done — but I’m hopeful. Slowly, intentionally hopeful.

Less is liberation. I’m still working my way toward it. And somehow, that feels like a start.

Signing off,Everything is fine.
