A new shop will bring a growing beauty trend popular among millennials to Over-the-Rhine.
The Lash Experience by Marie is set to occupy 570 square feet of space within the Cincinnati Center City Development Corp.’s Keyer Row project. The business is owned by Sydney Marie Huntley, a licensed esthetician and certified lash artist.
The shop, located at 1243 Main St., will open this spring, according to a release.
Lash extensions represent a growing sector within the beauty industry, thanks in part to their popularity among millennial consumers. The market for lash extensions is expected to reach $2.3 billion by 2028, according to Verified Market Research.
In addition to lash extensions, Huntley will offer microblading, waxing, brow enhancements and beard facials.
The launch of her own brick-and-mortar location was culmination of years work of effort on Huntley’s part. She first approached 3CDC about locating in OTR in 2020, but those plans were shelved in order for her to take care of her mother, who had Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Huntley continued to grow her business through her home, also located in OTR, and kept in touch with 3CDC throughout that time.
“Being an entrepreneur gave me the freedom to care for her and also put me in a better position financially,” she said.
“After she passed away in March of 2021, I had to take a mental break. One day, my dad came into my room and told me it was time to get up and start moving again – and that meant I needed to get up and keep moving forward, as hard as it was.”–
