What toppings are on a perfect pizza?
Now, I can’t even eat it! When I was a kid, sausage and pepperoni.

Why does the work that MORTAR is doing in our communities matter?
It matters because it shines a light on the hard-working small business owners that are looking to thrive. The work Mortar is doing is empowering, motivating and uplifting its community through small business empowerment.  This work is helping people provide for their families while living out their dreams.

If you could only listen to ONE musician/artist/band for the rest of your life, who would that be? Why?
Anita Baker- She’s timeless and her songs are effortless. Her songs also remind me of family chore time on Saturday mornings because my mother would blare her music all morning.

Thinking about what you’ve learned on your entrepreneurial journey, if you could go back in time to the day you started your business & tell yourself ONE thing, what would you say to yourself?
ASK FOR HELP! Even if the “help” doesn’t turn out the way you expect you still have to ask. It also helps you embrace vulnerability when you ask for guidance.

If you could be the mayor of Cincinnati for a day, what’s one thing that you would change?
Parking. It would simply be free!

Share your thoughts on MORTAR’s concept of “Building businesses. Transforming Cities.”
I love how it actually works. Sometimes you hear about concepts and ideas that don’t really solve any problems. However, when you build and support businesses within your community, you also transform the city around you because we are all impacted in the food chain. Supporting small businesses is also supporting communities because these communities are rooted in the economic growth of the area around them.
