Why does the work that MORTAR is doing in our communities matter?
The backbone of the United States is small business, and the work that MORTAR is doing is to bring the knowledge, skill set, and community connections to those who might not have access to these skills. This program has the potential to revolutionize people’s lives, and more importantly break down barriers for individuals who want to take charge of their destiny.
If you could only listen to ONE musician/artist/band for the rest of your life, who would that be? Why?
Owane. He is by far the most balanced composer that I have ever heard. He uses dynamic time signatures, push and pull, and high level guitar work into a master piece that will stand the test of time.
Thinking about what you’ve learned on your entrepreneurial journey, if you could go back in time to the day you started your business & tell yourself ONE thing, what would you say to yourself?
“We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is that the pain of discipline weighs only ounces where the pain of regret weighs tons.” – Jim Rohn This quote has revolutionized my mindset, because now there is no plan B. It’s all or nothing, ride or die to the end.
If you could be the mayor of Cincinnati for a day, what’s one thing that you would change?
I would make Cincinnati the new Austin, Texas in regards to music, food, and culture. Bring the culture to the surface instead of pretending it doesn’t exist.
Share your thoughts on MORTAR’s concept of “Building businesses. Transforming Cities.”
The concept is solid for those who are just entering into the idea of starting a business. I would like to see the next level of development for those who are past the first year mark and are looking to make sure that they don’t fail after the first year. The mission is one that deserves to be spread, heard, and consumed!
